Exercising with a prolapse – But can I still bounce?

We can sit here and tell you all the sunshine and rainbows stories of women who have had great success with us.

We can sit here and tell you of the marathon runners, the triathletes, the horse riders, the cross fit athletes working out at the top of their game with a prolapse.

We can tell you of the women who have avoided surgery, who have removed their pessary and thrown it away, who have gone back to their consultant to be told their prolapse has improved or gone!!!

But we need to tell you that everyone has a different journey and if you are willing to adapt or change things to get the results you want then anything is possible.

We need to be honest depending on your prolapse grade and symptoms it may be that there are things you can no longer do, for example, one of our ladies came to us after finding out she had a prolapse and she had been taking part in a regular trampoline fitness class.  This was putting a lot of pressure on her prolapse and making her symptoms worse so she had to step off the trampoline but now she can do weights, HIIT training, Pilates and Hypopressives with no symptoms and yes, she could probably jump on a trampoline and have a bounce around with her children in the garden but an hour of continuous bouncing would be detrimental to all the rehab and recovery work she has put in.

Women need to train smarter and sometimes that means stopping what they love for a short while to build up strength and resilience in the areas that need to be strong to be able to do “your thing” long term.

So, a short-term break or step back from running for example to be able to run long into the future symptom-free.
