Menopause Facts

If you are reaching that age when you know the menopause is approaching, what can you do to help the transition through perimenopause and to back out the other side?

The menopause affects every woman differently and there is no way of knowing what, if any, symptoms you are going to have.  But one thing is for sure there are things you can do to help.

Let us tell you our top 5 tips to help your body as you go through the menopause.

  1. Core training

We advise strongly that one of the things you definitely do is work on your core.  With 50% of women post-menopause being diagnosed with a pelvic organ prolapse, it’s important to get your core strong and functioning as you reach perimenopause and menopause.

This doesn’t mean start doing planks and crunches it means focus on posture, breathing and getting the core working as one to support you.
A strong core comes from much deeper than those superficial six -pack muscles.

  1. Address your posture imbalances

Our second top tip is to address your posture, we get into bad habits and as time goes by these bad habits create in-balances in the body which eventually become injuries, joint pain and discomfort.
Take photos of your posture see what is going on with your body and then comes the hard bit spending time getting your body moving properly again.

  1. Strength training

Use strength training to help increase/maintain your bone density.

  1. Stay mobile

Use Pilates and yoga to keep you mobile and strong and find something that you enjoy to keep you fit and healthy.

  1. Positive mindset

Keep positive. Mindset is so important and the hardest thing to control but everything we have talked about in this article can help you to feel happier, healthier and more in control of your life as you tackle the “m-word”.
